Big Noting Himself
More Information

Not all Murray Islanders supported Mabo's aspirations for the land claim.

Some thought he was a stirrer and was big noting himself.

Others didn't like him personally, or thought he was just trying to grab more land than he was traditionally entitled to.

Some resented the fact that he'd left Murray Island twenty five years ago and still wanted a say in the political and social life of their island.

In fact, every Murray Islander had a view on the case and its leader Eddie Mabo; most, in the end, backed his cause.
