Pride Speech
1967 was the year that Marou Mimi wrote the 10 laws of Malo in his diary, and exhorted the Meriam to follow Malo's example. A collector of myth and legend listened to their 'pride speech' about their lands and watched them repair their fish traps in the late 1960s. The ceremony for the first turtle continued to bring all the Meriam together in feasting style at the Church centre at Beur village.
